One of the first types of armor was not armor at all. Warriors would paint themselves and or ingest intoxicating or hallucinogenic substances. These did not make the warrior invincible, but they often did make them feel that way. Returning from battle victorious let them know it worked of course until it didn’t. I know that I have downed liquid courage before heading into battle. Did it make me invincible? Did it make you invincible?
